New eatery set to open soon on Barret Avenue

A new eatery is planned for Barret Avenue at Breckinridge Street across from the Louisville Urban Government Center.  A tipster pointed us to the sandwich shop, currently under construction at the former location of the Kentucky Democratic HQ Louisville-Jefferson Co. Democratic HQ and just down the street from the still-planned Harvest restaurant at Christy Avenue.  Interior construction is already well under way and should wrap up by the end of the week and the new shop should open for business in about two weeks.

The restaurant will be called Joe Davola’s and will specialize in quick-service local food.  We spoke with entrepreneur and business owner James who just moved down from Chicago to set up shop in the River City.  Commercial space prices were prohibitive for a similar venture up north, but Louisville and Barret Avenue seemed the right fit.  The restaurant will serve basic cold sandwiches, gourmet salads, and a variety of seasonal soups.  A sandwich will cost about $5.00 and your order will likely only take two minutes to complete.

Joe Davola’s chef runs a catering business in town and is described as a “health nut” who looks for only the best ingredients.  For instance, all meat for the sandwiches is freshly roasted daily.  It’s good to see Barret Avenue stretching farther out from its traditional Kentucky Street core.

No word on vegan choices, but he did say his chef was very health-food oriented, so there's always the possibility. Should be less than two weeks until opening, so we won't have to wait long to see.

    Great story. Thanks for that.

But it was the Louisville-Jefferson County Democratic Party Headquarters, not the KDP.
