Renovation Watch: Bardstown Road Grows Taller
Spotted this construction site on Bardstown Road while I was visiting the Holy Grale last week (it’s across the street), but I couldn’t find too much information about the project. The building permit says the second-story addition will be an apartment and cost about $75,000. Who knows more?

Just an FYI: A dollar figure on a building permit only represents that structure, not plumbing, electric, heating/air, fire alarm, sprinkler, land, contractors overhead & profit, so you can probably double that $ 75 K to get an approximate total cost. (Land not applicable here, nor probably is sprinkers and fire alarm.)

There is a case file and report to the Overlay Committee as part of the required design review for the Bardstown Road Corridor. I was the case manager, but those files are available. Similar to the reconstruction of the former Cafe Mimosa, now Roots/Heart and Soy, the second floor is residential, in this case for the out of state owner to use while in town, a pied a terre.
