After picking out a new bike and cycling to work for National Bike to Work Day on May 20, Mayor Fischer was hooked. Upon arriving Downtown, he declared, “This is great, we have to do this more often.” It turns out Bike Louisville was listening as tomorrow, Friday, September 30, the mayor’s wish comes true as the city is gearing up for its second Bike to Work Day. And you’re invited to bike with the mayor!

It’s easy, really: just get on your bike and pedal to work. But if you prefer, the city has organized three meeting spots (meet at 7:00a.m.) at Seneca, Iroquois, and Shawnee parks where groups will ride together to Fourth Street Live. Mayor Fischer will join the group from Seneca Park when they arrive at the intersection of Grinstead Drive and Lexington Road.

A Bike to Work Day Celebration is scheduled for noon on Friday at Fourth Street Live! and you could even win a free bike if you register over here. But remember, you don’t need an official excuse to get on your bike and ride. Every day can be bike to work day!

  1. I would far rather pedal to work than peddle to work. It’s a frequent typo, but an annoying one.

Sadly, I was not able to get off work for this one–work is in Crestwood, some fifteen or twenty miles away from the Bike to Work Day at Fourth Street Live celebration. Of course, I will (as usual) ride my bike to work from my home in Lyndon (about thirteen miles each way).

  2. Why no updates in so long? Is this a clever ploy to make people think every Friday is Bike to Work Day?! If so, BRILLIANT!

We were playing the quiet game – you lose!

Seriously though, is this thing on? Hello?

    …I miss the weekly news roundup… 🙁

  4. Okay, Branden, uncle! You win! If I promise to ride my bike to work, will you start posting again?
