Halloween came a week early to Louisville’s Eva Bandman Park, as the city hosted the 2014 Single Speed Cyclocross World Championships. Not only did the event help to keep Louisville weird and bring what the event’s website called “a mix of timeworn culture and refinement, spiked with righteous attitude and rebelliousness,” but also a healthy dose of national attention to biking in Louisville. The Urban Velo blog was in attendance, and editor Brad Quartuccio snapped these photos and allowed us to share them with you. According to Urban Velo:
Start with a shoeless run down a slip-n-slide, over the propane fueled barrier and onto the meat of the course built on the same permanent ‘cross grounds of Eva Bandman Park that held the UCI World Championships just a few years back. It’s less of a race and more of an event, with few actually keeping track of much more than where the good heckle sections on course are for some refreshments.
