It’s one proposal being floated after a judge ordered Frank Faris, owner of Genny’s Diner, to give away a deteriorating Victorian house on Frankfort Avenue: turn it into a gentleman’s club.
Wave 3 reported that about 40 proposals have come in for the house since it was offered for free:
The Baptist Church of downtown is interested in it,” said Faris. “The majority of them are just residential people. One person wants to put a Teahouse in it. Another person is interested in it as a gentleman’s club, a strip club.
A court-ordered sign declaring the building is being given away free hasn’t been posted yet, but it sounds like there’s no shortage of proposals for the property. The strip club idea sounds like a bit of an ironic jab at the neighborhood over what would be the bigger eyesore. It’s incredibly unlikely the place will end up a strip club.

Per Louisville’s Land Development Code, the property is not zoned properly to allow a strip club to operate. That said I consider it likely that Faris is merely saying this to frighten neighbors, much as some developers threaten to turn a property into a pig farm when neighbors object to their plans.
Another example of the Hysterical Preservation Society run wild. Frank should be allowed to do whatever he wants with the property.
Why is purple neon the universal for strip clubs?
The Gentlemens Club. Not only just for Seventh Street Road anymore.
Is the court order requiring the property to be given away include any requirement that the transferee rehab the property? If not, how does giving it away accomplish anything?
We drove down Frankfort on Saturday, and there appears to be a paper or posterboard sign with the word “FREE” scrawled on it pasted on the building.
