This Friday, we’re marking the official relaunch of Broken Sidewalk with a reader get-together at the City Collaborative’s amazing ReSurfaced pop-up plaza and beer garden on West Main Street! (And don’t miss our interview with City Collaborative’s Pat Smith on what makes ReSurfaced tick.)

Our urbanism happy hour series, City Suds, ahem, resurfaces on Friday, October 17 at 4:30p.m. Stop by whenever you can to mingle with fellow readers to talk urbanism in Louisville over a specially-crafted Kentucky-style beer.

We’ve partnered with our friends at New2Lou and there will be a performance by Louisville band Small Time Napoleon at 8:00 p.m. DJ Jason Clark will be spinning starting at 6:00p.m. Broken Sidewalk founder and editor Branden Klayko will also be wandering around the ReSurfaced site. RSVP for City Suds for a chance to win tshirts and a limited edition ReSurfaced print. Food trucks and the Heine Brothers’ Airstream trailer will also be on hand.

The event is free, but please RSVP for the event over here and share it with your friends on Facebook. We’ve love to see you there Friday!

What’s Louisville’s big idea? This Thursday, August 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., join us for the next City Suds Urbanism Happy Hour at Zanzabar (2100 South Preston Street), which is quickly shaping up to being a monthly event. We’ll be taking on the Bloomberg Mayors Challenge, brainstorming ideas for Louisville to bring home the $5 million dollar prize, and if we come up with something good, we’ll send it along to Mayor Fischer for consideration. What’s the Mayors Challenge?

Back by popular demand, mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 1st between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Eiderdown on Goss Avenue. The next City Suds Urbanism Happy Hour is geared toward PARK(ing) Day 502, that single day in September when cities across the globe convert parking spaces into temporary public places to draw attention to how we allocate public space in our cities.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we have some updating to do—and it’s on its way—but while I’m in town, let’s get together and talk cities over a happy hour. Stop on by the Garage Bar on East Market Street tomorrow, Thursday, June 7 at 5:30 and meet your fellow urbanists sitting on one of those giant green benches out on the patio. We’re keeping this first City Suds urbanism happy our very informal, but hope to keep it going as a regular thing. Hope to see you there!
