Thanks to local architect Steve Wiser for sending in these photos of the Big Four pedestrian and bike bridge in Waterfront Park. Now that the elliptical spiral is completely airborne, it’s much easier to imagine taking a walk or ride to Jeffersonville in peace without using the Clark Bridge with its narrow sidewalks and speeding trucks. The next step involves installing a concrete deck on top of the steel structure, which it looks like has begun on part of the spiral.

  1. Is there any way to get a higher resolution copy of the top image with the whole loop in it? I didn’t realize they had finished the last section…it’s really starting to look good!

  2. So many dream projects for Louisville, especially downtown (think Vencor HQ tower; sadly also think MuseumPlaza which looks iffy), I’m glad to take a moment and appreciate that one dream project is actually coming true. At least once, a grand “artist rendering” is actually going to happen. A great moment for Waterfront Park and Louisville!
