I meant to post this blurb during March Madness when it was applicable, but I found a C-J story (from 3/17, now offline) about the University of Kentucky’s Patrick Patterson pretty interesting.

Here’s an excerpt from the story:

Patrick Patterson spent most of his time in Lexington this week at Wildcat Lodge, the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team’s on-campus dorm.

When he left, he did so on foot, and he was careful crossing the street.

His car was strictly off-limits.

“I wanted to make sure nothing happened,” Patterson said. “I wanted to make sure I didn’t get hurt, didn’t get injured, didn’t sprain an ankle, didn’t get in a car accident.”

Patterson had been recovering from an injury and wasn’t taking any risks that would keep him from playing in the NCAA tournament. He knew the risks associated with driving whether is from distracted and drunk drivers or just your everyday accidents.
