Sidewalk parking on Clifton Street (Courtesy tipster)
Sidewalk parking on Clifton Street. (Courtesy tipster)

Thanks to a tipster for sending in this particularly bad parking job in the Clifton neighborhood just off Frankfort Avenue. That’s the sidewalk, not a parking spot—although the sidewalk appears pretty non-existent there. Strange how the driver chose to park on the sidewalk despite a plethora of legal street parking options just inches away.

  1. I see cars parked there all the time. Don’t see what the big deal is. I live in a neighborhood where the sidewalks cross through the driveways, people have cars parked “blocking the sidewalk” all the time… no big deal..

Parking in that area is strange.

  2. How about the individuals who park their cars in the recreation lane in Cherokee Park?

  3. This city does a poor job of enforcing laws and encroachments as such. It just isn’t a priority to our police. In Portland and other parts of the city, it is very common to see cars parked on the sidewalks. It’s a real shame.

  4. I don’t know why we had to bring portland into it. Sidewalks, yards, where ever, when ever, has been my experience. The ‘creek where 6 cars could easily park off of the street (2 in garage, 4 in the driveway) the first parking space behind the garage, is the part of the driveway crossing the sidewalk.

I don’t believe that the city /does/ a poor job in enforcement. I realize that with limited resources what is done is done. I wish only that more resources were available to the city, so that more personnel were dedicated to enforcing the laws.
