Attention all students, faculty, and staff at the University of Louisville: get $400 towards a new bike by giving up your parking permit for two years. In an effort to cut pollution on campus from car exhaust, reduce the amount of space needed for parking lots, and generally promote healthy lifestyles, U of L’s Sustainability Council has again launched its nationally recognized Earn-A-Bike Program.
This is the fourth year the council has offered the biking incentive, and around 400 vouchers have been given out each of those years. Three quarters of those vouchers have been snagged by students, with university faculty taking the other quarter.
“It’s a really popular program,” Justin Mog, head of the university’s sustainability program, said in a statement. “We only have 400 vouchers to give away, but every year we receive around 800 applications. Given the high level of interest, we wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to apply, but the deadline is coming up fast.”
The deadline to apply for an Earn-A-Bike voucher is August 15. Apply and learn more about the program here.
