Two of Louisville’s major architectural firms are teaming up. Luckett & Farley, located at 737 South Third Street across from the Main Library, and Godsey Associates Architects, located on the corner of Market Street and Second Street in Downtown Louisville, “have formed a permanent strategic alliance,” according to a report in Business First.

Godsey Associates, headed by Carlton Godsey, has already relocated to Luckett & Farley‘s SoBro offices and some Godsey employees are now on L&F’s payroll. Luckett & Farley, led by Ed Jerdonek, was already the city’s largest architectural firm. Luckett & Farley traces its history back to 1853, when it was founded by Isaiah Rogers and Henry Whitestone. Godsey Associates was previously located in the old German Insurance Bank (pictured at right), which the firm remodelled. That building is now being converted into an event space.

Both firms have undertaken major projects in Louisville and beyond. Godsey Associates worked on the design for the Kentucky International Convention Center expansion, the multiple expansions at the Fair & Exposition Center, and the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage. Luckett & Farley’s portfolio includes the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium expansion, the new West Louisville branch of the YMCA (pictured below), and the controversial expansion of Churchill Downs.

According to a press release, the two firm’s hope to see growth in the casual dining market, for which Godsey Associates has extensive experience designing Bonefish Grills and Outback Steakhouses across the country.

Luckett & Farley has been active in the SoBro neighborhood, so we’re hoping that adding a few more architects to the mix can only help.
